Written by Danny

“God has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes and understand with their hearts and turn to me to heal them.”

When I first read this scripture, which was spoken about God’s faithless people, it scared me until I came to understand the simple truth of Jesus’ other words in John 6:44, “No one comes to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” Again, in John 6:37, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and he who comes to me I will not cast out.” And finally the word recorded in Gal 3:7, So you see it is men of faith who are sons of Abraham.” Clearly, it is only those who have faith like that of Abraham who simply believed what the Word of the Lord said to him as recorded in (Gen 15:1-6) That faith is for us, as it was for Abraham, a simple, complete trust in the truth of God’s Word to us as shown in Jesus, the Christ, whose eternal name is the Word of God. (John 1:1 & 14, Rev 19:13)
Everything in our relationship with our God and his Christ comes down to our heart attitude, which in turn comes down to what, and how, we hear. This again in turn leads to what we believe, and how we act. I am not only talking about what we hear preached by men and women, but most importantly, what and how we see and hear as we read our God’s word. Also, of equal importance, I am speaking of how we look at, and learn from his creation. We read in Psalms 19:1-4 The heavens tell us of the glory of the Lord and the firmament declares his handiwork. Day after day they pour out speech and night after night they declare knowledge. Yet there is no speech, nor are there words, and their voice is not heard, but still their voice goes out throughout the whole world and their words to the end of the earth.”
If we will only listen to what the Spirit of our God is telling us, and stop listening to what our own very limited intelligence is saying, plus stop listening to what some man is saying, realising the truth of the word of God which tells us that (1Cor 3:19-23), then we will understand whatJesus is saying to us in John 12:40,
